Emma R. Swinehart, 97, of 18 Railroad Lane McElhattan, PA passed away December 2, 2017 with her family by her side at the Gate House in the Divine Providence Hospital. She was born in Mt. Eagle, Centre County, PA September 16, 1920 to the late John A. and Dorortha Courter Robinson. Emma was united in marriage Sept. 16, 1945 to Willis R. Swinehart who preceded her in death January 1981.

Emma was a 1939 graduate of the Lock Haven High School, she was a mother, a homemaker and was well known for her outstanding wedding & birthday cakes. She was also known for her Miss Emma’s Stickey Buns. She enjoyed her flower garden and her local Tuesday card club get together. Emma was an active member of the McElhattan United Methodist Church and a life member of the Wayne Township Fire Company auxiliary. She enjoyed her cat, Bella; her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and her great great grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Helen Wheeler of McElhattan, Jane (Don) White of McElhattan and Joy (Jeffrey) Croak of Mill Hall. One son, Willis W. (Doris) Swinehart and a special grandson, Justin (Stephanie) Swinehart of Mill Hall. Also surviving are a number of grand, great grand and great great grandchildren.

Emma was preceded in death by one son, Thomas E. Swinehart and 12 siblings, William I, Stanley L, Walter J, Blair, Floyd D, Lyle R, Earl D, J. Albert, Leard R, Helen Burner, Ruth Robinson, and Vera Baird.

Funeral services for Emma R. Swinehart will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11:30 am in the McElhattan United Methodist Church, PO Box 60, McElhattan, PA. Officiating will be Pastor Dave McElwee of the church. Interment will be in the Linnwood Cemetery, McElhattan.

Family and friends will be received at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 am until the times of services at 11:30.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be accepted to the McElhattan United Methodist Church, PO Box 60 McElhattan, The Wayne Township Fire Company, PO Box 88, McElhattan, The Gate House Hospice or the charity of your choice.
