Harold L. Dugan, 91, Beagle Road, Mill Hall, PA passed away December 22, 2017 at his home.  He was born on February 14, 1926 in Lairdsville, PA, to Judson and Ocie Reed Dugan.

Harold was a graduate of the Woolrich schools.  He is a WWII Navy Veteran having served on the U.S.S. Savannah and other ships during WWII from 1944 - 1947.  He owned and operated his own coal business and also worked at Piper Aircraft, retiring in 1984 when the plant closed.    He drove truck for Confer Trucking for several years and then went to work at the Weis Market from 1990 – 1999.  He then took a part time job with auctioneer Harry Schenck.  

Harold enjoyed tinkering and building things.  He loved to collect “discarded junk” from people, dismantle it and then recycle it to the selvedge yard where he would make a few dollars.   He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family.  He was a huge John Wayne fan. John Wayne was his hero and he enjoyed watching any movie with John Wayne.

Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Snyder Dugan on May 20, 1976, whom he married on January 10, 1948.  On June 22, 1985, he married Joyce Fisher Eggler.

In addition to his wife Joyce, Harold is survived by two sons: Harry (Michi) Dugan of Wisconsin, Lloyd (Kim) Dugan of Lock Haven & two daughters: Georgette (Floyd) Rupert of Beech Creek, Nancy (Ron) Young of Lock Haven; two stepsons: Rick (Peg) Eggler of State College, Tim (Vicki) Eggler of Lock Haven & two stepdaughters: Judy Eggler (Charlie Walizer) of Mill Hall, Connie (Bob) Carey of Lock Haven.  Together Harold and Joyce have 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife Kathryn, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Charles, Donald, Carl and Lester, and five sisters: Leota, Erma, Mary Ellen, Florence and Celia.  Also, a step son Gary Eggler, a step grandson Todd Rathmell and two infant great grandsons Owen and Elijah Finerfrock.  Harold was the last surviving child of the 10 children born to Judson and Ocie.

Harold was a friend to all and a foe to no one.  He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone.  He will be missed by many and will always be loved by all.

Funeral Services for Harold L. Dugan will be held Friday Dec. 29, 2017 at 11 A.M. at the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Pastor Frank Hartzel officiating.  Family and friends will be received at the funeral home two hours prior to the service from 9 to 11 A.M. on Friday Dec. 29 2017.   Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made is Harold’s name to Rote United Methodist Church, 102 Beagle Road, Mill Hall, PA  17751.

I knew Harold from working at Piper as well as living on Gravel Hill and seeing him when he delivered stone. Most of us living on the hill worked at Piper until Piper moved out. Harold was a great guy and will be missed.
