Elizabeth “Ellen” (Long) Pribble

Elizabeth Ellen (Long) Pribble of Woolrich, PA passed peacefully on Oct. 23rd 2019 at the Susque-View nursing home in Lock Haven.

Born October 9th 1924 in Danville, PA, she was the daughter of Frank and Jennie (Gohrs) Long.

She married her husband, Chester H. Pribble, on Feb 8th 1950 in Milton, PA at the Presbyterian Church. Together they enjoyed 69 years of marriage.

She was a graduate of Milton High School, class of 1942. She also graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1946. Following Penn State she attended Harpers Hospital in Detroit Michigan and graduated with a dietetics degree. She was employed at Allentown General Hospital as a dietitian. She later returned to Milton to take care of her father. Later she taught home economics at Lock Haven High School for two years.

Prior to marriage she was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Milton. Following her marriage she was a member of the Woolrich Community United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority at Penn State. Ellen was a past member of the Lock Haven Cosmopolitan Club and also a member of the local chapter of the Eastern Star.

Ellen so much enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed needlepoint and playing bridge. She was an avid reader, had a love for all animals and a passion for travel. In her travels she visited and enjoyed much of the United States as well as Canada and Europe.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynne (Joe) Caskey, Nancy (Ron) Wert, and one son, Randall (Barbara) Pribble. Four grandchildren, Jonathan (Amanda) Pribble, Laura (Justin) Hoffman, Stephen Pribble and Nicole (Mason) Curtis. She had two great grandchildren, Grace Hoffman and Adalynne Curtis.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant son, Roger Hugh Pribble who died at birth.

Family & friends will be received at the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St, Lock Haven, PA on Sunday Oct 27th 2019 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday Oct. 28th, 2019 at the Woolrich Community United Methodist Church, Park Ave. Woolrich at 11:00 AM. Internment will be at the Woolrich Cemetery following the service.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be made to the Ross Library, 232 W. Main St., Lock Haven, PA 17745 or Susque-View Nursing Home, 24 Cree Drive Lock Haven, PA 17745.

Our prayers and thoughts are with Chester and family. Ellen was a very kind and loving lady. A great friend that will be missed by us all. She always greeted you with a big smile and a kind word! Definitely one of a kind. Just had to love her, rest in peace my friend!
