Vivian Ruth (Johnstonbaugh) Welch, 99 of Elmcroft, State College died Thursday, November 28 2019 at Centre Crest Nursing Facility.

She was born in Lock Haven on November 3, 1920 a daughter of George and Marjorie (Earon) Johnstonbuagh.

Mrs. Welch graduated from Mill Hall High School in 1939 where she was a letter winner on the basketball team.

As a young woman she did the bookkeeping for her parent’s business, Johnstonbaugh’s Dairy, later known as Mill Hall Milk Products.

On October 11, 1940 she married William H. Welch and they spent 61 years together.

She was of the Presbyterian faith.

She was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Clinton County Historical Society and was quite active in   the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) for 60 years. She attended local and national DAR meetings, including yearly trips to Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. Her passion was local history and genealogy. She spent endless hours at the Ross Library researching not only her side and her husband’s side of the family lineage but that of many other people across the United States who asked her to research a particular relative that had grown up or lived in the Clinton County area.

She is survived by three children, Stephen (Carol) Welch of Centre Hall, Daniel (Marie) Welch of Avis and Abigail (Jack) DeSousa of Coburn.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Douglas, Kevin, Heather, Scott and Maria Welch and Jason and Jeremy Otto and six great grandchildren: Janelle, Connor, Kieran, and Aidan Welch, and Colton and Dylan Treaster, one sister, Kay Munro of Avis and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: George, John and Joseph Johnstonbaugh.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC,  121 W. Main St. Lock Haven. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Lamar Township. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 followed by a service officiated by Pastor Susan Champion.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the Ross Library 232 W. Main St. Lock Haven, PA. 17745 or to the Alzheimer’s Association 63 N. Franklin St. Wilkes- Barre, PA. 18701 .
