Loretta E. Engquist, age 68, of 121 West Lincoln Ave., South Williamsport, PA passed away, October 25, 2008 at the Williamsport Hospital.She was born In Williamsport on May 1, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lorrin A. Ayers Bassett Hunter.Loretta graduated from the Williamsport High School and after graduation joined the Women's Army Corp. After being honorably discharged from the military she attended Mansfield University where she earned a teaching degree in Early Childhood Education.Loretta taught elementary school in West Virginia and also in Texas. She also worked in the Williamsport area at local retail stores retiring due to heath reason. She is survived by (2) daughters: Rayetta White of South Williamsport with whom she resided and Cheryl Timmons of Houston, TX.(1) brother: Amos E. Hunter of Austin, TX; (2) sisters: Shirley J. Confer and Amy Shumbat, both of Williamsport. (4) grandchildren: Haley, Chelsea, Jenna and Philip and (1) great-grandson Kaiden. She was preceded in death by one brother Jerome Basset and two sisters, Virginia Graham and Joan June. Graveside memorial services for Loretta E. Engquist will be held on Sat. Nov. 1, 2008 at 11:00A.M. in the Greenlawn Memorial Park, Montoursville, PA. There will be no visitation.In lieu of flowers memorials will be accepted to the family, in care of: Rayetta White, 121 West Lincoln Ave., South Williamsport, PA 17702.Funeral services are under the direction of the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 West Main Street, Lock Haven, PA. To a person I look to as my 2nd mom, She was a person with great knowledge and she was a great mentor. I will miss her straight forward ways. She told you how it was and what was on her mind but with class. My condolences to your family whom i've known for 12 years. You will be soley missed. Rest in peace Mom, I'll miss you
