Alice Ruth Stanley, 72, of 374 West Grape Street, Lock Haven, passed away November 10, 2014 at Manor Care, Jersey Shore, PA.  Alice was born October 18, 1942 in West Chester, PA to the late Frank and Dorothy Baldwin Gee.  She was united in marriage to James R. Stanley on April 13, 1963.

Alice was a member of the Thorndale United Methodist Church, Thorndale PA and Castanea United Methodist Church and was a 1960 graduate of Downingtown High School, and Peirce Business School, Philadelphia.

After Business School, Alice worked for the Downingtown Paper Company, (DOPACO), for a number of years.  From 1981 to 2000 she and Jim owned the Hotel Manor in Slate Run PA.   After selling the Manor in 2000, she worked as a part-time teller for the Jersey Shore State Bank, retiring in 2007.  Her hobbies included knitting, games of all types, the beach and shell collecting.  For the past 5 years, she and Jim were "snow birds", residing in Palmetto, Florida, where they had many good times and made great friends.

Alice was a Past Royal Matron in the Order of the Amaranth, Tiadaghton Court #136. She also served on Grand Court Committees and was Grand Marshal in 2013 and 2014. 

Alice is survived by her husband James R., two daughters, Alicia (Richard) Rissel of Thorndale, PA, Jennifer (Richard) Prentiss of Williamsport, PA, two brothers, John Gee of New Holland, PA, Joel Gee of Denver, PA and a sister, Margaret Shisler of Ithaca, NY.  She is also survived by two granddaughters, Sarah (Shawn) Peters and Allison Stewart, one step-granddaughter, Natasha and one step great-grandson, Jacob.  Alice was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Gee McDonald. 

Funeral services for Alice Ruth Stanley will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home 121 West Main Street, Lock Haven. Officiating will be Pastor Susan Champion of the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, Mill Hall. An Order of the Amaranth service will be held at 10:00 am. Friends and family will be received from 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon.

A memorial service and interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Thorndale, Chester County, PA area.   Contributions can be made to either Community Nursing Services of Clinton County or the Diabetes Foundation.

enjoyed the company and friendship of you and Alice at
the Hotel Manor in Slate Run for so many years. She
was a wonderful person and we have great memories
