Christopher L. Johnson,  61, of Woolrich passed away after an eight month battle with cancer on Monday, April 4, 2016 at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital. Chris was born on April 18, 1954 in Lock Haven. He was the son of the late Charles “Cody” and Beverly (Selfe) Johnson of McElhattan.

 

Chris worked, lived, and loved in this area. On May 1, 1982, Chris married Lee Land in Lock Haven. He attended Lock Haven High School. He graduated from Lock Haven University with a degree in Biology, as well as from Pennsylvania College of Technology with a degree in Avionics. Over his 38 year career, he worked at Lock Haven Hosptial, Hammermill/International Paper, Modern Communications, Metrocall, and First Quality.

 

Over the years, Chris had many hobbies including piloting planes, gardening, and fishing. But his greatest hobby of all was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Nothing gave him more joy than running around in the backyard with his family. Chris is survived by his wife, Lee Johnson, and his two children, Patrick (Lindsey) Johnson of Lock Haven and Nicole (Eric) Katherman of Lancaster. He was blessed with six wonderful grandchildren, Peyton, Gabriel, Hannah, and Alex Johnson, and Parker and Connor Katherman. He is also survived by his mother, Beverly Johnson, and his three siblings, John (Sharon) Johnson, Timothy (Brenda) Johnson, and Carrie (Kerry) Toner, as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC,  121 W. Main St. Lock Haven with Pastor David McElwee  of the  McElhattan United Methodist Church officiating. Visitors will be received from 10:00am-11:00am. The funeral will begin at 11:00am with burial following at the Dunnstown Cemetery.

 

In leiu of flowers donations can be made to the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at the Geisinger Medical Center, Pediatric Oncology Unit, 100 N. Academy Ave., Danvile, PA 17822.

Lee and family: Wanted to express my sincere sympathy in the loss of your husband. Thank you for sharing your story with me that day at the bank. The only advice I have is "one day at a time". My thoughts and prayers are with you.
