Brooke B. McGhee, 93, of Susquehanna Ave. Lock Haven, PA. passed away Thursday October 26, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Lock Haven April 21, 1925 to Dr. Saylor John and Sophia Ochsenreither McGhee.

Brooke was a graduate of the Lock Haven High School where he was an outstanding basketball player. It was said in a newspaper article from 1939 or 1940, that the opposing team would not finalize their defense until they discovered where Brooke was positioned. He was also an honorable mentioned All American. Brooke served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945. After the war he attended Penn State where he earned a business degree. At first he worked for The American Aniline Chemical Co. Brooke also worked for and eventually owned Clinton Electric and later sold it to The Denny Electric Co. from which he retired well into his 80's. Throughout his life Brooke was a golfer, his fluid motion and flexibility helped him to become the Clinton County champion for many years. Brooke was respected and loved by everyone who knew him, he is already sadly missed.

Brooke was united in marriage to the former Dorothy “Tommy” Watson July 7, 1948 who survives at home. Also surviving are two sons: Jeffrey (Deborah) McGhee of York and Thomas (Ann) McGhee of Barrington, RI. Five grandchildren: Kimberly and Kristin McGhee of Pawtucket, RI are the children of Jeffrey and Deborah McGhee of York. Jonathan McGhee of Rochester, NY, Mathew McGhee of  Barrington, RI, and Christine McGhee Francis, of FL are the children of Thomas McGhee of  Barrington, RI . Also surviving are four great grandchildren

Brooke was preceded in death by two brothers; Theodore and Saylor McGhee and two sisters; Julia McGhee and Darr Luckenbill.

Funeral services for Brooke will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 10:30 AM, in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC, 121 W. Main St. Lock Haven. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Salmon of the Lock Haven First Church of Christ. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday evening, October 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery.

Brooke was always a gentleman. Very gracious. We shared a common bond having grown up at 214 W. Main Street, which has been owned for more than a century and a decade by either a McGhee or a McKnight. I always enjoyed Brooke's comments about sports, especially about local teams.
