Robert Emil Lantz (Bert), aged 55, died August 25, 2018, in Falls Church, Virginia.

Born June 25, 1963, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Judith H.  and the late Louis J. Lantz of Lock Haven.

Bert grew up with his family in Brooklyn, NY, and Lock Haven, PA, and graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1981. Upon graduation from Lock Haven University in 1985, Bert was recruited to the Washington, DC, area as a computer programmer.  There he launched a 33-year career in his field, advancing through a succession of companies. He was most recently Vice President of Capture Management for a healthcare information technology consulting firm in Virginia.

He is survived by his mother, Judith H. Lantz, of Lock Haven, PA; his twin brother, Ralph Lantz, of Wyomissing, PA; his older sister, Teresa Lantz, of Fairbanks, AK; his younger sister, Sarah Lantz Copeland, of Bloomfield, NJ; and his niece, Mackenzie Lantz (daughter of Ralph), of Wyomissing, PA. In addition to his immediate family, he had a wonderful extended family including his uncle, Burritt Haag, of Leeds, MA, and his family; and his aunt, Theresa Stoy, of Lock Haven, PA, and her family. He had many, many people who called him friend.

He was a bigger-than-life man, with a kind and generous nature, and a laugh that we will remember forever.  We will miss him more than we can say.

A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.

Bert touched a lot of lives, and we hope to continue his legacy.  Memorial donations can be made to The Men’s Home, 402 Hume Avenue, Alexandria, VA, 22301 (themenshome.org); or to the Wounded Warrior Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.

What can I say. I haven’t seen him in quite a few years but I remember his laugh and how he could make you laugh. Bert,Ralph and I grew up together. Was at their house quite often.Very shocked. You will be greatly missed. To Ralph and ‘Mrs.Lantz’. If there is anything I can do please don’t hesitate to ask. God bless.

I worked with Bert many years ago in Kensington and, yes indeed, I remember his wonderful laugh! He was a kind and generous person and he will be greatly missed from this world. My sincere condolences to his family and I will be keeping you all in my prayers during this most difficult time.

Oh Bert... I am so sad that you are already gone... We met back in 1997, and like so many others, even though we were competitors most of our careers, we became life long friends. I am so glad I got to have lunch with you last time I was in D.C. - we were supposed to catch up next time you were in Texas.... I guess that will have to wait now. I love that the story about you highlights your laugh - EVERY time I ever saw you, even in the middle of huge work stresses, you were smiling and laughing! That is how I will always remember you.

Rest well my friend - you have earned it.

I knew Bert as a programmer, manager, and friend. He was a cheerful, capable, warm hearted person who everyone liked and respected. It was a shock to hear that he passed at such a young age. He will be missed.

Bert and I worked together years ago and we had a running joke “Hey Bert, it’s Claire” and “Hey Claire, it’s Bert”. Bert was so supportive of my breast cancer walks. Such a kind and generous friend. He will be greatly missed ❤️. Sending hugs to all Bert’s friends and family.
