Surrounded by immediate family, Jeffrey Allan Gummo passed away peacefully May 28, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Jeff was 56 years old, and lived his life on Laurel Run Farm in Beech Creek, Pennsylvania. He was a member of Great Island Presbyterian Church.

Jeff was born on February 16, 1964 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania to John and Joyce Gummo. He was a 1982 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany (BEN) High School and a 1986 graduate of Lycoming College where he obtained a business degree. After obtaining this degree, Jeff used his expertise at Frito-Lay over various roles for 20 years. He continued the latter part of his career with Moran Industries, Truck-Lite, and ended his career as the National Safety and Health Manager at 48Forty Solutions.

On July 7th, 2012 he married his soulmate and true love, Michelle. In their 16 years together they enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, and creating their canning masterpieces of salsa, relish, peppers, sauerkraut, and mustard. The two had a very close marriage and truly enjoyed life to the fullest together. Jeff also loved to hunt and with his hunting success made delicious wild turkey breast, venison steaks, sausage, burgers, and hot dogs. He passed on his passion for hunting to many people, including some of his nephews. He was the entertainer, truly the life of the party. Between his unique dance moves, his quirky sense of humor, and his creative nicknames for all relatives and his many friends, he always made people smile and laugh, especially when they needed it. He was a great sounding board, always gave good advice, and was readily available for anyone who needed him, anytime. Jeff was a selfless person and always put others before himself, no matter the situation.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jeff is survived by his two daughters that were his world: Courtney (Garrett) Bogden of Lancaster and Lauren Gummo of Northumberland. He also leaves his brother and sister in-law, John (Cassie) Gummo of Watsontown; his sister, Jill Gummo of Pittsburgh; mother-in-law, Darla (Dee Dee) Tishok of Greensboro, NC; and sister-in-law Melissa (Bob) Westall of Greensboro, NC. Jeff was an amazing uncle and was blessed with 2 nieces, 6 nephews, 1 great-niece, and 1 great-nephew. Each one of his family members loved and adored him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the joyous life Jeff lived on Sunday May 31st, 2020 at Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W Water Street Lock Haven, from 12:00PM-2:00PM with services to follow. Please be advised: mask are required and social distancing is advised.

In lieu of flowers, to support Jeff’s passion for hunting, donations may be made to the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) Bald Eagle Longbeards Chapter through the Yost - Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC. 121 W.Main St. Lock Haven, PA.

I worked with Jeff at Frito, he was one of a kind. We were a tight knit group back then, more like family. I was fortunate to be able to see him a few months ago and had him over for dinner. It was the first time seeing him in almost 15 years. He was still the same Jeff. We shared work stories, old times, it was an amazing night. Although the miles separated us and time marched on, that night it was if time stood still and we picked up where we left off. He loved his family and friends and had a kind heart. He always had an ear to listen and offer help, support, and encouragement. God bless you my friend. My wife and I send our condolences to Michelle, his daughters. And the entire family. Thoughts and prayers are with each if you.

My deep condolences to the Gummo family. He and I worked closely at 48Forty Solutions having talked almost daily. What I remember and value most is that every conversation or meeting we had we laughed. Laughed hard. There were times neither of us could talk because of our rowdy cries of laughter. He made my days better and he had my utmost respect. I'll miss him. - Josh

Michelle, Courtney & Lauren,

Just know, you guys are Jeff's world, he is so in love with each of you as a wife, daughter, father, husband, best of the best friend and companion, he is counting on you to carry forward. His spirit lives and shines through each of you, your friends and family to see and love daily.

Lean on God, he is always there to help you each and every step of the way along this challenging journey. Your friends and family love you guys and are praying for you through the days ahead.

Jeff...always so happy, full of energy, endless drive, leader of leaders, caring and compassionate, crazy, sharp-dressed man, clean cut with his "high and tight" perfect hair cut and shaved neckline!

Jeff drove the SF Carton Team to be our best, he was so competitive at everything we did...even racing go-karts, jet-skis, fishing or just ordering our dinner entree !!! Jeff was always the best at everything and because of Jeff...each of us are better!

That's Gummo!!!

We love you guys!!! Always, Doug & Jennifer McAtee

My sincere condolences to you and your entire family. I have fond memories of Jeff while working with him from '94-'97. Always smiling and finding positives throughout the day. His passion for hunting and sharing venison with his friends. I recall Jeff sharing photos of his beautiful little girls, he was so proud. I wish I lived nearby to say my prayers for him in person. Jeff, you were a true role model for all to follow. Rest in peace.

Jeff I don't even know where to start. I just uploaded pictures from just a few of our many wonderful memories together. You are first my cousin who I grew up with. You have always been there for me through all the phases of my life and I am eternally grateful. We were so thrilled you could be a part of our wedding party and I am so thankful you were there to stand up for us on our special day. You have been loyal to my parents and a special Uncle to my kids always playful and filled with fun. Your joy and love of life and family was endless. I admire not only your logical outlook in life and "make it happen" philosophy but also your down to earth way you loved and enjoyed the simple things in life. We will miss our dinners at the Powerhouse eatery and your extra home made goodies you always would pass along to us and pop in our trunk. I will eternally be thankful for your presence in my life and that of my family. Thank you Jeff for your love, loyalty and friendship. I am thankful I can call you family. Until we meet again please watch over us and know how much you were and still are loved so very much. Love, Karen (KK), Ken, Abby and Emma Kirst

Michelle and family,
Betty and I want to reach out to all of you with our prayers for finding your strength in this time of sorrow. Jeff will always be remembered by so many people for the strong and positive person he was.
I will always cherish the times we had together working with the Carton Team at Frito Lay. Jeff was a person that always found a new or better way to get the job done no matter how difficult it was and only with the full approval of each one of our team members. Working with Jeff was most of all fun, exciting and filled with enthusiasm. He made sure we all shared together in our Carton quests.
Kind, courteous, thoughtful, energetic, and loving are the words that best describe Jeff. But these are only words, Jeff truly lived these words in his everyday life and helped us all in ways to become better people. Thank You Jeff for all that you gave to me and the Team at Frito. You will never be forgotten and will always remain in my heart as a true friend. I will miss you.
Your love for your family and friends are the glow in your smile and on your face !! May God be your strength to Michelle and the entire family..

Dear Gummo Family, on behalf of the LHHS Class of ’82, I would like to express our sincere condolences. He will be remembered as a fun-loving, go-getter. I ran against him as class president. I always accused him of counting the votes...which wasn’t true, but I thought that was the only way I could have lost. Eventually, Jeff and I became great friends, planning class reunions and parties together. He will be truly missed. May the Good Lord wrap His loving arms around you and give you the comfort and the strength you need to see you through these most-difficult days.

My heartfelt condolences to the Gummo family. Jeff was one of the kindest people I have had the honor of knowing. As The LHHS Class President for 1982, Jeff always made sure to reach out to every class member and include them in planning, while honoring classmates we had lost too soon. Thank you, Jeff, for being kind, when kind wasn't what a lot of people were then. You were definitely one of the good guys and will be missed by so very many. Praying that his family and loved ones find strength and comfort, knowing Jeff is Home with Our Lord.. Until we meet again for that big reunion....

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I had the privilege to discuss Biblical subjects with Jeff. He was a very busy man, but he was always so courteous and polite to take the time to express his viewpoint. He was a very good man. May you be comforted with the prospect of being reunited again.
