Stephen Barrett Day, 55, died at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, after several years of declining health. He was born August 20, 1966, in Lock Haven, PA, the son of Dr. Donald E. Day and Lois Day. In 1994 he married the former Michele Hornberger. He spent many joyful years as a devoted husband and loving father to his two children, Logan & Jordan.
Stephen graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1984. He received an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Business Administration and Management from Kaplan University. He became a locksmith in State College and enjoyed rescuing people who were locked out of houses, cars, and businesses.
He enjoyed all kinds of music. He played trumpet and loved being the "high note man" for the Lock Haven High School Band, which won the East Coast Championship his senior year. He also played bass guitar for several rock bands over the years.
He is survived by: his wife Michele Day of Philipsburg; son Logan Day (partner Elizabeth Sawtelle) of Altoona; daughter Jordan Day of Philipsburg; mother Lois Day of Lock Haven; brother Brian Day (children: Jasper, Ry, and Miko Royce-Day) of Hartford, CT; sister Mary Beth Day (partner Richard Aungst, son William Straley) of Bellefonte. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He loved and treasured his relationship with the Etters family of Milesburg. He was preceded in death by his father Dr. Donald E. Day.
Steve's warmth, humor and charisma will be missed by his family and friends.
A private service will be officiated by Pastor Taylor Camerer of the Great Island Presbyterian Church. An event to celebrate his life will be determined at a later date.
