Reverend Viola C. Tyson, 88, of Mountain View Estates, Avis passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Gatehouse Hospice Unit, Williamsport.   She was born on June 25, 1930 in Lock Haven to George and Edith Johnson Campbell.
Viola was a 1948 graduate of the Lock Haven High School, and 1971 graduate of Lock Haven University, majoring in Elementary Education and teaching at KCSD.  She then entered Duke Divinity School in 1979, and was ordained in 1982. She was also member of the College of Women in Central PA Conference.  She had also served as Director on both CEPA of Central PA conf. and Crafts Inc.
Viola is survived by her daughter, Heidi (Steve) Herman of Lock Haven; four grandchildren, Jessica (David) Corob, Dana (Lucas) Cain, Jonathan Herman, and Jason Tyson;  and four great-grandchildren. Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Sydney, in 1975, and a sister, Mary Buck, in 2001.
Funeral services for Reverend Viola C. Tyson will be  held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 12:00 P.M. in the Flemington United Methodist Church, 25 High Street, Flemington, PA.  Family and friends will be received in the church one hour prior to the services.  Officiating will be Pastor Rick L. Conklin from the church. Interment will be in the Dunnstown Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Viola’s name can be made to Flemington United Methodist Church .

Viola and I were in many college classes together and then later we both served the Lord in ministry in the UMC. Please receive my heart-felt condolences. I know she and her work will be missed.

I have so many fond memories of you as a child visiting your home with my dad.
You delivered a beautiful sermon and eulogy at my fathers viewing in 2013. It is comforting to know that you are finally with Uncle Junior again. Love you,Cindy💜

Viola was a valuable member of our board of directors, she will always be remembered. Viola will be missed but not forgotten.
