Vivian B. Aungst, 94, returned home to her heavenly father on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.

Vivian was born on March 17, 1925 in Dexter, Missouri to August and Ollie Mekan. Vivian completed her education at Essex High School in Missouri. After graduation, she moved to Lock Haven, Pennsylvania to work at Piper Aircraft, where she was able to obtain her pilot license. While working at Piper, Vivian met her husband, Clarence Junior “CJ” Aungst. Vivian and CJ then partnered with Manynard Aungst to operate the Pine Creek Ice Plant in Avis, Pa. Later, they owned and operated CJ’s Inn in Charlton, Pa. In December of 1970, Vivian and most family, moved to Scottsdale Arizona where she retired from Motorola. Throughout her life, she could be best known as a witty, thrill-seeking adventurist who parasailed over the ocean in her 80s, zip lined over the animal reserve at 90, and rode roller coasters at 91. Vivian was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by many.

Vivian preceded in death by her husband, CJ Aungst, and her son, David C. Aungst. Vivian is survived by her children, Linda J. (Tex) McCauley, Carol J. (Gary) Prough, Larry J. (Gail) Aungst, and Deborah K. (James) Haynie III, as well as, her 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Vivian is also survived by her sister, Wanda Stevens and brothers Donald, Doyle, and Gene Mekan.

For anyone wishing to attend, there will be a viewing held at the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, Pa on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Vivian will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale, Arizona.
