Emma R. Bartley, 81 passed away December 23rd, 2019 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Jersey Shore Emma was the daughter of the late Geraldine and Harvey Letterman. Emma is the wife of Nathan Bartley.

Emma worked for 55 years at Weldons/Carole Hochman Design Group during which time she made many lifelong friends, many of whom she considered family. Emma loved family get togethers at her and Nate’s home in Rauchtown. Emma was the most loving, caring and generous person you’d ever met, she gave to everyone and never wanted anything in return, she loved everyone and anyone who met her loved her.

Emma loved to shop with her girls. She loved Elvis and with her husband she got to visit Graceland and talked about it often. Emma loved her husband and together they shared many special memories but a favorite past time were the years they raced their jeep together. Emma adored her husband and family they were always her top priority. Christmas was Emma’s favorite holiday, she loved everything from the lights and music to giving gifts to everyone. “Cookie Day” was a tradition Emma enjoyed with her girls (no one makes sand tarts like her). Most of all though Emma enjoyed having her entire family under one roof celebrating  together. Emma will be immensely missed by all, but she will forever live on in the hearts of her girls who will cherish and carry on her legacy.

In addition to her loving husband Nathan Bartley, Emma is also survived by her daughter’s Cindy (Kevin) Tallman of Cogan Station, Mickie (John) Young of Collomsville, & step-daughter Nadine (Bill) Rockwell of Duboistown. Granddaughters Angela (Steven) Carneiro of Rhode Island; Jamie (Tim) Hostrander of Rauchtown; Felicia (Collin) Beaver of Avis. Great grandchildren Emma, Makenzie, Brayden and Kylee. Sister Helen (Bill) Pyfer of Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Geraldine & Harvey Letterman, Emma is preceded in death by her sister Faye Phleegor, brother Bill Letterman, and niece Darlene Perez.

I would like to send my sympathy to all of Emma's family. I worked with Emma for 10 years at Carole Hochman Designs (1981-1991). I was the receptionist. Emma was always so bubbly and kind. She had a great sense of humor and could brighten up anyone's day. I'm sure that if she had this effect on co-workers, she was even more loved by her family. I know that she will be greatly missed by all of you. I lost my mother almost 5 years ago, and some days are still very sad. I hope that with time your sadness will lessen and that you can just reminisce about the fun-loving person that she was!

I knew Emma through my mother Sue Fulkrod. She worked with my mom for many years at Weldon’s. My mother thought of her as a very good friend. I used to see her around and always happy and smiling. She will be sadly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your whole family.
