Dear Marie and family,
My sincerest sympathy on the loss of your loved one. I taught with Dan at Lock Haven for years, and my most favorite memory of him was the night he debated Drew Talbot & Ulmer Hall was full! May you always celebrate his life and cherish the memories....and may God grant you peace and strength as you begin this new journey in your life. Sincerely, Professor Kathy Richards

What devastating news! My heart goes out to his family.

I knew Dan for decades and he was a valued colleague and a dear friend. His work with the SPSCVA and the journal were invaluable. I was at the meeting where we established the SPSCVA many years ago. I last saw Dan at the Film-Philosophy conference in Scotland in 2016 where he was the keynote. We had a great time (see photo).

Two weeks ago I invited him to present a paper on at the SPSCA sessions in New Orleans in February 2021. His response was positive.

He will be greatly missed.

Sincerely,
Sander Lee

Dear Marie, Pat and Anna
I was so sorry to hear of Dan's death. I have not had recent contact; however my memories are a very generous loving couple, with two young bright kids. Lots of conversations with Dan about Philosophy religion, and some good games of 9 ball pool and of course chess.
I also remember a generous couple who helped this man during a time of need.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Dan.

With loving memories
Paul Antram

Devastating news and I am very sad to hear that Dan is no longer with us.
After reading his books/articles and using them in my dissertation, I was very fortunate to have had the chance to meet him in 2014, where we had a vivid conversation about Film and Philosophy. We kept in touch since.
He has helped me allot in my research and my work on Cinematic Philosophy. I will forever be grateful to him and he will remain in my heart.
A deep loss to the SPSCVA and Film & Philosophy family/community.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
Yours Truly
Tal S. Shamir (PhD)
